Course Description:
The Performance Contracting & Funding Professional On-Demand Training provides fundamental knowledge across four core principles and practices specific to performance contracting and financing. These include:
- Traditional Financial Arrangements & Terminology
- Performance Contracts
- Advanced Financial Evaluation of Financing and PC Options
- Advanced Presentation Techniques
Each section is divided into subsections that align with the certification program's Body of Knowledge. The instructor provides more value than only preparing individuals to take the associated exam. He brings all candidates to a base level of understanding across a wide variety of PCF topics.
Who is the PCF On-Demand Program For?
The short answer is anyone that is focused and committed to a self-study learning format. Professionals interested in, or actively performing performance contracting or funding projects will gain the most. But it is also useful for entry-level candidates or individuals that interact with energy, ESCO, or banking professionals during their daily work.
Once registered for the program, you will gain access to the program videos and digital materials to study at your own pace. You will have access to the program materials for six months from the initial date of registration.
There are four videos that make up this on-demand course. In order to receive a certificate of completion, you are required to view all of the videos. The total run time for the entire program is approximately five hours, plus another hour to review the digital materials. Participants can go back and re-watch any of the videos during their six months of access.
- Part 1 - Introduction and Financial Arrangements (1:09)
- Part 2 - Performance Contracting (1:30)
- Part 3 - Advanced Financial Analysis (0:51)
- Part 4 - Advanced Presentation Techniques (0:39)
After registering for this on-demand class, to submit questions to the instructor, please enter them on the Discussion Board (will be visible after registration is processed). Once a month, the instructor will schedule a Zoom live Q&A session.
At the end of this program, participants will be able to:
- Learn how to reduce the sales cycles and avoid pitfalls, which can unnecessarily delay projects by months, or even kill a project.
- Understand how important new financing options will enable you to implement projects, that can save energy and related expenses.
- A must for ESCO participants, facility managers and anyone who uses financing and/or performance contracts.
- Learn about new financing solutions and how to compare side-by-side.
- Learn the best practices approach to achieving your project goals, and steps to take in order to avoid common pitfalls. For people on both sides of a contract, this information can help you save millions in delays, lost projects or legal expenses.

Course Description
The Certified Energy Manager On-Demand Training Program offers the full-length version of the CEM program (20+ training hours), through pre-recorded sessions from multiple instructors. Participants will also receive an electronic copy of the workbook to prepare for their exam.
The instructor teaches participants energy relationships and the equations and calculations that govern them. As a CEM, it is easier to optimize a system when these fundamentals are understood. When used as a certification exam preparation tool, the on-demand program effectively prepares participants for the CEM exam because they are more comfortable performing energy-related equations.
During the six-month access period, you can stream the videos at any time, from anywhere you have an internet connection. There will also be a monthly Q&A session with the instructor for participants to clarify any points presented in the program.
Who is the CEM On-Demand Program For?
The short answer is anyone that is focused and committed to a self-study learning format. Professionals interested in, or actively performing energy management and energy efficiency-related work will gain the most. But it is also useful for entry-level candidates or individuals that interact with energy professionals during their daily work.
Monthly Live Q&A
While taking the on-demand CEM course you can attend a once-a-month live 1-hour Zoom Q&A session during which one of the instructors will answer questions.

MARK R. ROCHE, C.E.M., B.E.P., C.D.S.M., C.E.P., C.E.A., is currently the Manager Regulatory Rates covering DSM and Storm Hardening for Tampa Electric Company and DSM for Peoples Gas System. He has 32 years of experience in Nuclear and Fossil Fuel Power Generation, Energy Delivery, Energy Management, Utility Marketing, Customer Service and Regulatory Activities. Mark served in the US Navy for 12 years onboard two submarines in their Reactor Control Divisions and also was a Mathematics Instructor at the Naval Nuclear Power School. Since 1997, he has served in several leadership roles with two investor owned electric utilities. He has direct experience in leading electric and gas utility teams covering: Energy Management, Load Management, Distribution Power Quality, Field Operations, Distribution Control Center Operations, Meter Department Operations, Grid Management, Service Delivery, Revenue Assurance and Regulatory. Mark has been very active in the energy management and DSM since leaving the Navy. In 1998 he developed and presented multiple courses on energy technology and management with a concentrated focus on how to implement effective energy management programs. In 1999 he was the President for the Tampa Association of Energy Engineers startup chapter and held the position of Region II Vice President. Mark has been a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) instructor since 2001 and has also served the CEM Program as Test Writer, Board Member and Ethics Committee Member since that time. In 2003, Mark was one of the initial developers of the Certified Business Energy Professional Program and Course and since that time developed an online webinar version in 2012, a self-paced version in 2015, and an International version in 2017. In 2014, Mark developed the Certified Demand Side Manager Course.
