Course Description

The in-person course is designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to support the climate action and sustainability efforts of your organization so you can plan and manage your organization’s climate action journey.

This Climate Action Certificate is a 2-day professional development course covering the potential climate impacts and opportunities facing humanity, as well as an overview of climate policies and emissions measurement techniques. The virtual course is designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to support the climate action and sustainability efforts of your organization through a structured program delivered by two experienced climate action practitioners and certified trainers. It is open to all professionals tasked with working on climate action. 

Who Should Attend

  • A professional who wants to reduce its organization’s impact on climate change by understanding emissions policy and impacts, and developing a Climate Action Plan for their firm or organization.
  • No prior knowledge required. Suitable for Facilities, Operations, Legal, Financial, HR or Marketing professionals at C-Suite, Management or Junior levels who may have a desire to develop knowledge of Climate Action and might be involved in green teams.

Raoul Empey, BA BAI, MSc, CEng MIEI, CEM-I

Director of Sustineo, a leading Irish sustainability consultancy that provides solutions for businesses to reduce the impact they have on the environment. Sustineo specializes in climate action, carbon and energy management, and also assists businesses with restorative projects such as planting native woodlands in Ireland. As a certified trainer, Raoul has designed, developed and delivered highly successful courses such as Energy Basics and Carbon Basics delivered to over 2,000 participants on behalf of the national energy agency, the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).  He also delivers Climate Action workshops and webinars on topics such as net zero targets and carbon offsets. Raoul is a Climate Reality Leader, having been personally trained by former US Vice President Al Gore in the communication of climate change. He is also a Certified Energy Manager with the Association of Energy Engineers (CEM) and a Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland (CEng). Raoul was a contributor to the International Organization for Standardization’s Net Zero Guiding Principles which was launched at COP27 in Egypt last November (ISO IWA 42), and authored Ireland’s food marketing semi-state agency (Bord Bia) guidance document for the food and beverage manufacturing sector entitled “Pathways to Net Zero”.

Certificate of Achievement Eligibility

There are no prerequisites to qualify for the course.

An open-book multiple choice exam based on exercises throughout the course must be passed (pass rate is 70%) for a certificate of achievement to be awarded.

Training Program Participant Transfer & Cancellation Policy


The following terms and conditions apply to Participants at the Association of Energy Engineers, Inc. (AEE) Training Programs. All requests for transfers, substitutions, or cancellations must be made in writing. Participants agree to these terms and conditions by registering for a course.

 

Transfer Policy

If you are unable to attend the live course for which you have registered, registration fees can be transferred to another public course offering or substituted with another individual in your place within one year of the original course date. No difference in registration fees paid shall be refunded and the participant is responsible for any difference for transfers to a higher cost course.

Virtual

Requests to transfer to a differently named course submitted 14 or less days are subject to the $200 Transfer Fee.

Cancellation Policy

For registrations cancelled 21 days or more prior to the course date, the full registration fee less a $200 Cancellation Fee will be refunded. For registrations cancelled 20 days or less, the full registration fee shall be assessed, and no refund will be made. No shows will result in forfeiting of the registration fee and no refund will be made.

In the event a training program is not held as a result of any cause not reasonably within AEE’s control (including, but not limited to, instructor illness, acts of terrorism, acts of God, war, civil disturbances, declaration of national emergency, accidents or labor disputes, fire, flood, storms etc.), participants shall be notified as soon as possible and AEE’s liability will be limited to the reimbursement of the training program registration fee.
