Electrification is a critical driver in shaping the future built environment, and this session will provide practical, technical, and strategic guidance for applying electrification in both new and existing buildings. Attendees will explore industry trends in heat pump technology and the key technical, operational, and grid-related factors that influence successful heat electrification. The session will also cover how policy drivers, incentives, and lifecycle cost considerations can be integrated into project decision-making. Real-world examples will demonstrate how electrification projects are being implemented today, highlighting performance, reliability, and value. Participants will leave equipped to clearly communicate electrification benefits and guide stakeholders toward future-ready, low-carbon energy strategies.
About the Presenters
Alan Clayton serves as the Sustainable Systems and Commercialization Leader for Trane Technologies. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri and an MBA from Lindenwood University, and brings extensive experience across HVAC manufacturing, sales leadership, and channel development. Alan has held senior roles with Arizon Companies, Johnson Controls/Hitachi, and JASCKO Corporation, where he supported the growth of advanced HVAC and applied product portfolios. He is known for his relationship-driven, ethical leadership approach and is passionate about balancing professional growth with personal well-being.

Alan Clayton
Sustainable Systems and Commercialization Leader

Alan Clayton is currently serves as Sustainable Systems and Commercialization Leader for Trane Technologies.
After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri, Alan began his career as a Sales Engineer for Arizon Companies, a manufacturer of custom Air Handling Units. During this time, he continued to hone his skills by earning an MBA from Lindenwood University in Missouri, plus other professional certifications.
Afterwards, he joined Johnson Controls, as a Regional Sales Manager in support of a joint venture with Hitachi Air Conditioning. During his tenure, he helped build and scale a North American sales channel focused on the VRF and ductless product portfolio. He then served as Sales Leader at JASCKO Corporation, a Florida-based commercial HVAC manufacturer’s rep that also serves as Carrier’s regional sales office for applied products.
Alan places a lot of emphasis on building relationships, making ethical decisions, and living a balanced life. In his free time, he enjoys fitness, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
