About the Presenters

Cara Olmsted is the Senior Director Program Management, Distributed Clean Energy for RWE Clean Energy, where she has led initiatives spanning energy efficiency, commodity supply, demand response, and solar EPC services. She has driven major strategic efforts, collaborated closely with executive and technical teams, and chaired her company’s Environmental Health & Safety Awards Committee for eight years. Cara is passionate about leadership rooted in personal integrity and purpose, believing that each individual has the ability to define their path and find meaning through their work.

Kiersten Washle is a Portfolio Energy & Sustainability Manager at JLL, where she develops sustainability strategies that help bring the built environment into greater harmony with the natural world. Her experience spans energy and carbon analysis, net‑zero building design, and large‑scale decarbonization planning for universities, towns, and enterprise clients. Kiersten holds multiple degrees in engineering and business, along with professional accreditations including CEM, LFA, LEED Green Associate, and ActiveScore AP.

Cara Olmsted

Cara is the Senior Director Program Management, Distributed Clean Energy for RWE Clean Energy.

Over the years she has actively marketed and sold energy efficiency, commodity supply, demand response, and solar EPC services. She has participated and led corporate strategic initiatives including new business start-ups and new/existing product growth and expansion. In her roles, she has had significant interaction with C-level executives and technical teams. For the past eight years she also launched and participated in the Committee for the company’s annual Environmental Health & Safety awards. As the Chairperson of the committee, she managed a team of 8 professionals, to develop an evaluation process, scoring approach, and reach consensus in selecting the winners. In addition, each year she has given the opening remarks at the awards ceremony with a focus on the three key points – ideation, process, and leadership in achieving success in the pursuit and execution of the work that we do. In Cara’s words “Leadership is framed not from the perspective of an external source or guide but from the leader that resides within each one of us to, define our path, act with integrity, and achieve happiness and meaning in our lives and through our work.”

Cara has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri and a Masters Business Administration from Fordham University, New York, with a major in Finance and Marketing.

Kiersten Washle

Portfolio Energy & Sustainability Manager

JLL

In all things, Kiersten’s goal is to bring the built environment into greater harmony with our natural one. Kiersten is based in Virginia and works in the Sustainable Operations team at JLL where she develops sustainability solutions for Enterprise accounts. Prior to that, Kiersten worked with the CMTA where she conducted analysis to understand the effects of building design decisions on KPIs such as energy use intensity and carbon footprint. Her work contributed to the construction of 5 net zero energy buildings in New England, including the first net zero school in the state of Connecticut. She has completed multiple sustainability and decarbonization master plans for universities and towns totaling more than 2.5 million square feet.

Kiersten holds a BS in Systems Engineering and Sustainability as well as an MS in Engineering Management, both from George Washington University. Additionally, she has an MBA from the Quantic School of Business. She holds a C.E.M. accreditation, Living Futures Accreditation, is a LEED Green Associate, and is an ActiveScore AP.
