Kenney Spain, is an internationally-recognized energy engineer, manager and trainer with three decades of experience helping clients find ways to reduce energy costs. Mr. Spain remains as an on-call Research Scientist with the Earth System Science Center of The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) after 25 years of full-time service. Since 1998 he has helped over 3000 government, utility and private sector energy managers prepare for the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) examination. Kenny has taught over 400 seminars and participated in more than 200 energy audits during his energy career.
Mr. Spain was AEE’s International Energy Engineer of the Year in 1995 and was inducted into the AEE Energy Managers Hall of Fame in 2002. He is a Life Member of the Association of Energy Engineers and was elected as a Fellow of AEE in 2013. He is also Past-President of the North Alabama Chapter of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) as well as Past-President of the Alabama Chapter of AEE and has served on the CLEP Board for the AEE since 1992. He is a past member of ASHRAE/IESNA SSPC 90.1, the project committee responsible for producing ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA 90.1-1999 “Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings.”
